I have visited The Goat many times, sometimes just for coffee, sometimes for lunch/brunch. The menu is great - plenty of choice, food is always good and the staff are excellent. The service is quick and efficient.

Amazing!! The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was very attentive. It’s very busy but they have a front of house which makes it very efficient. Would definitely recommend the following dishes :

We stumbled upon this place on a walk and what a gem we have found. We popped in on New Year's Day and it was super easy to get a table. Sat right down and was immediately waited on. The staff was incredibly friendly and quick. The food came out within 15 minutes of ordering. Everything was made to perfection. Definitely going to be a regular stop now!

I had a wonderful experience at Goat and Grass Café, thanks to Scarlett’s exceptional customer service. She was warm, patient, and understanding, ensuring I found the perfect spot to work for a short while. Her friendly smile and professional attitude made a big difference.
The rest of the team was equally welcoming, and the food was delicious too. Highly recommend this café for both its atmosphere and excellent service.

It’s a lovely place to hang around with friends and family. The chicken wrap was really nice; juicy grilled chicken with kale and sauces.. Smoothies without sugar is so refreshing. Just for i need for lunch. Staff are helpful and accommodating.

We used to come here years ago and were pretty disappointed with our visit today. The food and drinks were all mediocre at best. Service was slow and server had really stained leggings on which was off putting, it's also incredibly noisy in there. I'm very unlikely to go back again as it seems to have really gone down hill. The quality of the food was poor. Drinks were fairly tasteless.

I recently visited The Goat and Grass Café at Cross St, Saffron Walden, and had a mostly enjoyable experience. The café has a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it a perfect spot for breakfast or a casual meal. The staff were attentive, friendly, and created a warm ambiance that made me feel welcomed right from the start.
I ordered the "Hungry Goat Breakfast," which had all the right components for a hearty start to the day. The portion size was generous, and the ingredients were fresh. However, there was one small downside—while everything else was cooked well, the hush-browns had a noticeable burnt taste from the sunflower oil they were fried in. This strong flavor distracted a little from the overall dish, but it didn’t completely spoil the experience.
On the bright side, the green tea with lime that I had was absolutely fantastic. It was a refreshing and unique twist on the usual tea options, and I found it to be the perfect accompaniment to the meal. The balance of the lime's tartness with the subtle notes of green tea was superb.
Despite the minor issue with the hush-browns, I left the café feeling satisfied and impressed by the service and atmosphere. I would definitely return to try more from their menu and would recommend the café to anyone visiting Saffron Walden. Just perhaps keep an eye on the oil when frying the hush-browns next time!

It’s not often I write restaurant reviews but when I do it’s because it was so good I felt compelled to.
A simple lunch for two on a journey to Cambridge, The Goat and Grass serves us up an absolutely delicious chicken salad dish and rösti dish and tea.
Every bite was a pleasure and I didn’t want it to end but was pleasantly full when it did.
Food was tasty. The restaurant was fairly busy but staff were super attentive and friendly.
Would come out of my way on regular trips to Cambridge to come here again.

Only issue is there's too many things on the menu so it's hard to make a decision!

Food is always great. They have very nice goats cheese salad, chicken salad, and falafel salad. Their smoothies are also very nice and big.
Love the fact that there is always water on the table with clean glasses even before you sit down.

Went into the goat and grass today for brunch never been before, it was quick service our food tasted amazing and very fresh.
Very helpful staff, the guy helped carry my pram into the restaurant and walked it to our table even though it was busy.
Definitely will be going back. 💖
